Getting an anonymous STI test
what is possible, and what is not

A fully anonymous STI test is not possible with us, or at any other reliable lab in the Netherlands: a valid result needs your name, date of birth and a valid ID. What is possible is confidential testing: your test does not go through your GP, is never added to your medical record, and your bank statement shows a neutral description.

What confidential means here

Discreet testing, truly private

Your test stays between you and the lab. Not your GP, not your insurer, no one needs to know.

  • Nothing on your medical record Your test does not go through your GP and is not added to your medical record or insurance claim.
  • No referral, no deductible You arrange it yourself online. No appointment with your GP and it does not come off your insurance deductible.
  • Results for your eyes only Your results sit on your secure dashboard and your bank statement shows a neutral description.

Honest about your privacy

We ask for your name and date of birth, and at the blood draw you show a valid ID — that is part of any reliable lab test. So your test is not anonymous, but it is confidential: it does not go via your GP, it is not added to your medical record and your bank statement shows a neutral description. If you fall into a risk group and want a free test, you can also go to the GGD.

When to test

The window period: when is an STI test reliable?

After unprotected contact your body needs time before an STI is detectable. Test too early and the result can be falsely negative.

Chlamydia & gonorrhoea

Reliable from about 14 days after the moment of risk. If you have symptoms, test sooner.

HIV & syphilis

A 4th-generation HIV test is reliable from about 4 weeks; full certainty after 3 months.

Symptoms? Test now

A burning feeling when urinating, discharge or pain? Do not wait for the window period — test straight away.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about confidential testing

Can I get an anonymous STI test?

Confidential yes, anonymous no. We need your name and date of birth, and at the blood draw you show a valid ID, as with any reliable lab test. Your test does not go through your GP and is not added to your medical record. Your bank statement shows a neutral description and your results are visible only to you.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No. You arrange the test entirely yourself, online. We automatically create a lab referral via ZorgDomein so the lab can draw your blood. No GP is involved and it does not come off your deductible.

Which STIs can I test for?

Chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, HIV, hepatitis and trichomonas, among others. You choose a single test or build your own combination.

How quickly will I get my result?

Usually within a few working days of the blood draw. You receive your result, reviewed by a doctor, securely on your private dashboard.

When is the best time to test?

For most STIs a test is reliable from about 14 days after the moment of risk. If you have symptoms, do not wait and test straight away.
